Accessibility
WhiteScreen.download is built to work with a keyboard, with a screen reader, and for visitors who have asked their system to reduce motion. This page states plainly what is currently supported, so it can be corrected quickly if you find a gap.
Keyboard support
- Skip link. The first thing focus reaches on any page is a “Skip to the tool” link, so keyboard users do not have to tab through the header on every page.
- Exit fullscreen. Pressing Esc always closes a fullscreen colour or prank screen and returns you to the page, whether or not the browser’s own fullscreen mode was used.
- Standard tab order. Buttons, links and form fields (the width/height fields and resolution menu on colour pages) follow the page’s reading order.
On screen exit control
Alongside the keyboard shortcut, an on screen Exit button appears over every fullscreen screen for anyone using a touch device or a pointer instead of a keyboard. It fades after a few seconds of inactivity and reappears immediately on any tap, click or key press.
Screen readers
Interactive controls on the colour pages , the fullscreen button, the width and height fields, the resolution menu, the download button and the hex colour field , carry descriptive labels rather than relying on an icon alone. The full screen colour preview itself is marked as an image with a text description, since it has no textual content of its own.
Reduced motion
If your operating system is set to reduce motion, the site’s own animated and decorative effects are scaled back to respect that setting. This does not apply retroactively to every possible future screen added to the site, but it is the standard every new one is built against.
Known limits
This is a small, actively maintained site rather than a large product with a dedicated accessibility team, and it is realistic that not every edge case has been found. If something described above does not work the way this page says, or you hit a barrier that is not mentioned here, that is worth reporting.
