How Our Screen Tools Work
This page explains, in plain terms, what actually happens on your device when you use one of the tools on this site.
Opening a colour or prank screen
Each colour page draws a solid colour panel directly in the page using CSS. Pressing “Open fullscreen” asks your browser’s built in Fullscreen API to expand that panel to fill the display , the same browser feature a video player uses. Nothing is downloaded or requested from a server to do this; the colour is already on the page.
The prank and simulated OS screens work the same way, built from CSS and a small amount of JavaScript animation rather than real screenshots or video, and closing them (Esc, or the on screen Exit button) simply removes them from the page.
Downloading an image
The download button generates the chosen color at the width and height you request. PNG, JPG and WebP are produced with browser canvas APIs, while SVG uses a local browser Blob. Your browser handles the save, and the generated image is not uploaded to a server for processing.
What is not happening
- Nothing is uploaded. There is no file input, no upload endpoint and no image processing on a server involved in opening or downloading a screen.
- No account or sign in. There is nothing to create and nothing tied to an identity.
- No watermark or tracking added to the file. The PNG is a flat colour with no embedded metadata beyond what your own browser’s canvas export includes by default.
Browser requirements
The site works in any modern browser. Fullscreen and image downloads rely on JavaScript; with JavaScript disabled, the colour still displays as a normal (non fullscreen) page element, but the fullscreen and download buttons will not function, since there is no server side fallback for either.
